This week you may have noticed a new eatery quietly pop up in the newly-completed Fremont Row mixed-use building on NW Crossing Drive. NorthWest Crossing is pleased to welcome Poke Row to vibrant neighborhood center. Founded by the team behind Downtown Bend’s 5 Fusion & Sushi Bar, Lillian Chu, Chef Tyler Shen, and Justin Chu, were inspired by the quick rise in popularity of poke on the mainland! To them, this was the perfect
opportunity to share some authentic Hawaiian flavor with Central Oregon.
So, what is all the hype about poke? Dating back to the early Hawaiians, poke simply means “to slice or cut” in the Hawaiian language. Early on beginning as a daily snack at sea during a long day fishing, then evolving into an appetizer at home, seasoned with a little seaweed, poke has evolved into a popular and healthy main dish.
Poke Row solely focuses on delivering fresh and healthy food to each visitor. It is a casual environment, perfect for a quick bite dining in, or taking to go. Their menu is simple and allows you to put together your own perfect bowl or burrito with a variety of proteins, mix-ins, sauces and toppings. But your meal isn’t complete until you follow it with the perfect dessert of Hawaiian Shaved Ice!
Poke Row is the first of a few new exciting additions to the neighborhood center. In the coming months, we are excited to also welcome West Coast Provisions, Cosa Cura, and Eclectic Soul to the ‘hood! Cosa Cura and Eclectic Soul will add variety and a stronger draw to the already established retail-shop community in NWX, while West Coast Provisions is your newest neighborhood gourmet market!
As growth of our neighborhood continues, we hope that it continues to excite you as much as it does us! Creating a strong sense of community is a top priority to us and a growing neighborhoods center contributes to that each day.
