Three NorthWest Crossing Guild Builders Gain Certified Sustainable Homes Professional Designation

01 December 2009 – Bend, Oregon – NorthWest Crossing, Central Oregon’s largest mixed-use community, today announced that four of its NorthWest Crossing Builders’ Guild companies have completed the Earth Advantage Certified Sustainable Homes Professional program. Bill Hull of W.H. Hull Company, Eric Meloling of Meloling Construction, Randy Grout of The Grout Company and Michael Scannell of Woodcraft Builders each completed the course.

NorthWest Crossing Volunteer Team Participates in Bend Beautification Program

NorthWest Crossing, Central Oregon’s largest mixed-use community, has come together to work on the beautification of Mt. Washington Drive, a main traffic route on Bend, Oregon’s west side. A group of volunteers, led by NorthWest Crossing resident and Master Gardener Ruth Zdanowicz, will be working on August 22nd to clean up the median between Skyliner Drive to Shevlin Park Drive. A team of residents has already spent morning hours cleaning and weeding NW Crossing Drive, Labiche Drive and the Sphere roundabout within the neighborhood.

NorthWest Crossing Munch 'n Movies, co-presented by The Bulletin and Whole Foods Market, announces movie dates and titles for the 2009 series. Popular Central Oregon outdoor movie experience is back and now in NorthWest Crossing's Compass Park. Each event includes family-friendly movies, food vendors, live music and more.

SolAire Homebuilders Vidas-Staley Residence in NorthWest Crossing Named Green Building Project of the Year

The National Association of Home Builders has named the SolAire Homebuilders Vidas-Staley Residence, located in NorthWest Crossing, as its Green Building 2009 Project of the Year – Single Family Luxury/Custom. The association honored SolAire Homebuilders at the 11th Annual NAHB National Green Building Conference in Dallas.

NorthWest Crossing Named as Finalist in 2009 Urban Land Institute Awards for Excellence

NorthWest Crossing was one of only 25 developments to be named as a finalist, and hosted a visit from a ULI judge last month. As a finalist, the community will be featured in a new book entitled Best Practices in Development: 2009 Award Winning Projects, which will be released at the ULI fall conference in November 2009.

NorthWest Crossing Business Tenant Named “Architect of the Year” for Golf Course Design

Bend, Oregon – GOLF Magazine has named David McLay Kidd as the Architect of the Year for 2008. Kidd, who opened his headquarters in Bend, Oregon neighborhood NorthWest Crossing earlier this year, was the designer behind the renowned Bandon Dunes on the Oregon coast approximately 10 years ago. Recently, he has had two high-profile course openings the Castle Course in St. Andrews and Tetherow in Bend, Oregon. Tetherow was also recognized by the magazine as one of the top courses of 2008.

Brooks Resources Releases Annual Calendar; Celebrates 40 Years in Bend, Oregon

Bend, Oregon - Brooks Resources Corporation today announced that its annual wall calendar is now available to the public. The 2009 calendar, which the community looks forward to each year, features a view of the Cascade Mountains at sunset from the NorthWest Crossing neighborhood center on Bend’s west side and a timeline of Brooks Resources’ projects in Central Oregon over the last 40 years.
