Three NorthWest Crossing Guild Builders Gain Certified Sustainable Homes Professional Designation
01 December 2009 – Bend, Oregon – NorthWest Crossing, Central Oregon’s largest mixed-use community, today announced that four of its NorthWest Crossing Builders’ Guild companies have completed the Earth Advantage Certified Sustainable Homes Professional program. Bill Hull of W.H. Hull Company, Eric Meloling of Meloling Construction, Randy Grout of The Grout Company and Michael Scannell of Woodcraft Builders each completed the course.

changing rapidly over the next several decades," said Bruce
Sullivan, Green Building Consultant with Earth Advantage
Institute. "These builders will be ahead of the curve, able to
deliver buildings today that meet future expectations for
efficiency, health and durability."
Sustainable Homes Professional (SHP) is an
interactive, six-month program that gives participants the
technical skills and knowledge required to design and build
high performance homes. The course integrates lecture and
discussion, hands-on exercises and tours of certified homes. It
is also a registered program of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) continuing
education system and was approved through the U.S. Green
Building Council's Education Provider Program as a
400-level mastery course.
Enrollment is now being accepted for the
next SHP session that begins on January 15th. Information is

All homes built in NorthWest Crossing are
required to be built to Earth Advantage® and ENERGY
STAR® standards, part of the neighborhood's commitment to
sustainability. The NorthWest Crossing Builders' Guild is a
group of builders who are approved to build homes within the
community.
