Central Oregon Brokers Complete Green Building Course

Bend, Oregon - Brokers from NorthWest Crossing Realty recently completed an Earth Advantage S.T.A.R. (Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professionals) program. This fully-accredited training program on green building was developed by Earth Advantage and took place in Bend on October 24-25.

“The training we received in this course will definitely help us communicate the features and benefits of Earth Advantage certification and green building in general,” said Romy Mortensen, vice president of sales and marketing for Brooks Resources. “It just reaffirmed that building to these standards is just the right thing to do! We are proud that NorthWest Crossing is committed to building green homes.”

The two-day course was taught by Susan Badger-Jones of 3E Strategies, with guest speakers: Bruce Sullivan of Earth Advantage; Ric Secor from Mountain View Heating; and Erik Meloling, from the NorthWest Crossing Builders’ Guild. It included in-depth instruction about green building in general and programs such as Earth Advantage, Energy Star and LEED. Instructors helped participants understand and sell the value of homes with environmentally-friendly features. The program also featured a tour of a NorthWest Crossing home built by Eric Meloling that included many of the discussed elements.

Participants must complete and pass an online exam in order to receive certification and the Earth Advantage realtor designation.
