"Green Building" is a relatively new term, but
The Grout Company has been involved in recycling and utilized
green building techniques throughout our 33 plus year history.
Four years ago, we decided that all new houses built by The
Grout Company would be constructed to Earth
Advantage standards which include increased insulation
levels, material recycling, energy efficient windows &
doors, high efficiency heating & ventilation systems,
advanced sealing & moisture abatement techniques, recycling
of materials, low voc paints & finishes, energy efficient
lighting & appliances, and utilizing low impact materials.
Significant effort is continuously made to utilize the most
energy efficient and sustainable products and techniques in all
of our construction projects.
The company is a full service general contractor specializing
in both new construction and remodeling. Randy Grout, with a
combined degree in architecture and business from the
University of Oregon, is the owner and manages all aspects of
the company. With offices in both Portland and Bend, The Grout
Company has been in business for over 33 years. Randy recently
obtained the Sustainable Homes
Professional designation, a rigorous and demanding six
month course offered through Earth Advantage,
concentrating on sustainable building
practices and high performance systems.
The Grout Company's roots stem from a long history of working
in Northwest Portland's restoration and revitalization
programs. The company was very active in a majority of the
restoration and development along Portland's upscale N.W. 21st
and N.W. 23rd Avenues and the Uptown area executed during the
late 70's and early 80's. Having moved back to Bend in 2001,
Randy has completed a number of unique residential and
commercial projects in Northwest Crossing and the surrounding
area.
Customer service, quality, integrity and attention to detail
are cornerstones of our company philosophy. In addition, making
the construction process enjoyable and a learning experience
for everyone involved is vital to the success of a project.
We have our own home designs which can be modified to satisfy
your needs or we can work with your own architect or designer.
We can also recommend a small number of architects and
designers with whom we work on a regular basis to provide you
with a winning design.
